The Nazareth Academic Institute

I am a member of the International Board of Trustees (advisory) of the  Nazareth Academic Institute ("NAI").

NAI is the first Israeli institution of higher education established at the initiative of the Arab Israeli community.  Accredited by the Israeli government in 2009, NAI aspires to be a multicultural academic center for peace, research and development.

All students at NAI begin with a general education curriculum that features a unique core program in peace studies.  The peace studies program integrates theories of multiculturalism and skills for coexistence, encouraging students to evaluate regional issues from multiple perspectives and conflicting cultural narratives.

A faculty of Jewish and Palestinian Arab, Muslim and Christian professors provide instruction in Arabic, and Hebrew, and English, helping students to equalize their skills in Israel’s two official languages while building competence in a neutral and internationally important third language.
