Recommended Books on Globalization and Business

Bookstores are clogged with advice about globalization and business.  Among the recent offerings, three stand far above the crowd:

* Victor K. Fung, William K. Fung, & Yoram (Jerry) Wind, Competing in a Flat World (Wharton School Publishing 2008).  The leaders of Li & Fung, together with a Wharton faculty member, develop the theory and principles of network orchestration with subtlety and precision.

* Rama Bijapurkar, Winning in the Indian Market (John Wiley & Sons 2007), published in India as We Are Like That Only (Penguin).  One of India's most perceptive thought leaders systematically documents how businesses can respond effectively to the heterogeneity of the Indian consumer market.

* Barry Lynn, The End of the Line (Doubleday 2005).  An exceptionally rigorous analysis of the ways in which logistics and global supply chain management have externalized and correlated risk acros the global economy.
